Teaching
I believe performance belongs to everyone, including the many students who do not think of themselves as performers. Whether I am teaching theatre majors in a studio course or non-majors in a lecture hall, my pedagogy rests on three commitments: embodied learning, play as a path to confidence, and collaborative, anti-oppressive practice. As a queer artist and a certified facilitator of Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, I design classrooms that challenge the inequities built into traditional education while upholding the rigor of theatrical training.
